In an effort to deliver more winter recreational opportunities to Downtown, Downtown Grand Rapids Inc. (DGRI) recently installed a pop-up ice rink in Heartside Park.

"The GR Forward plan envisions Heartside Park as a park that changes with the seasons," said DGRI special events manager Kimberly Van Driel. "The weather is throwing us some curve balls. But we're hoping for the return of cold temperatures, so neighbors and the community can use the rink for winter sport activities."

Ski-chairs painted by local artists, hockey nets and a warming pod will be available on-site daily. This is a bring-your-own-skates recreational rink. Ice skate rental not available.
